Nuclear QA Engineer Specialist
Typical Functional Responsibilities:
Support the goals and objectives of Vernon and the Nuclear Products Operations (NPO)team
Support goals and objectives that benefit the quality organization and NPO
Actively participate in accountability meetings
Capable of comprehending industry related quality guidelines and associated procedures
Create or revise procedures / maintain compliance to requirements
Able to support a Corrective Action Request program, Audit process and Supplier Qualifications
Arrange activities and interface with fabricated/machined/assembled component Inspection, NDE, Gage Calibration, Welding, Heat Treat and Agency Sub-Contractors
Able to interpret drawings and participate in the resolution of production floor problems
Approve documents such as Mfg Plans, Repair Plans, Purchase Orders, CMTR's, Documentation Packages, etc
Help prepare NPO for Audits / facilitate auditors, source inspectors, visitors, etc.
Respond to customer complaints / develop / take Corrective Action and monitor results

Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Word, Projects, Excel, Power Point and Lotus Notes

Ability to Identify Product Reject or Acceptability / Use of Acceptance Criteria
Ability to make decisions with justification
Process Improvement – Inventory and Production
Create Documented Work Instructions –QC & Mfg
Understand / Create methods for Material and Document Tractability
Ability to decipher NDE results and Disposition Rework / Repair
Interface with Product Engineering to Explain / Resolve Deficiencies
Recognize deficiencies which require Engineering interface
Inspection of Parts and Assemblies / learn their function / documents
Understand elements of welding and heat treat
Verify CMTR’s and develop Certificates of Conformance
Experience with QMAIC process of Continuous Improvement: Quantify, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control.
7-10 years experience working in the quality assurance field
Strong Knowledge of ASME, 10CFR21, 10CFR50 App B, RCCM, KEPIC and ISO 9000 required
Advanced knowledge of the Nuclear Industry or industry equivalent (military, aerospace, etc.) considered a plus.
4-Year degree from an accredited university desired
